About the Stud
Wentwood Grange has three farms. The yearling farm is located at the Top Farm on State Highway 1, directly opposite the Main Farm where the broodmares and foals facilities are.
Redoubt Farm, situated on Mangatautari Road, takes the farms total acreage to 206 hectares (510 acres). This farm is being used to accommodate mares and spellers. Previously a deer farm this land is perfect for horses with numerous trees for shade and backing onto the Waikato River and it boasts desirable mineral rich pastures.
Graduating from this stock are many mares and colts that the
Wentwood Grange family are rightfully proud of. Many of these horses bred at the stud have gone on to win some of Australasia's top races. These include horses like Kermadec winner of the 2015 Doncaster Handicap and 2015 George Main Stakes, Valley Girl winner of the 2016 Herbie Dyke Stakes Group1, Signify winner of the 2017 Telegraph Handicap Group 1, and Miss Raggedy Ann winner of the 2011 Group 1 Railway Sprint.
Wentwood Grange is also the first New Zealand breeder to bred a Group 1 winner at Royal Ascot when Little Bridge won of the 2012 Group 1 Kings Stand Stakes.
Wentwod has established itself as a leading vendor of Group 1 horses having offered for sale the Group 1 winners Kermadec, Valley Girl, Gust of Wind, Signify, Sacred Elixir, Little Bridge, Miss Raggedy Ann and I Am A Star in recent years, all from small drafts.
Wentwood Grange has undulating terrain and premium mineral pastures, making it perfect for developing young muscles in developing horses.
