Another farm, situated on Mangatautari Road, takes the farms total acreage to 166 hectares (410 acres). This farm is being used to accommodate mares and spellers. Previously a deer farm this land is perfect for horses with numerous trees for shade and backing onto the Waikato River it boasts desirable mineral rich pastures.
Graduating from this stock are many mares and colts that the Wentwood Grange family are rightfully proud of. Many of these bred at the stud have gone on to win some of New Zealand’s top races. These include horses like Miss Raggedy Ann winner of the 2011 Group 1 Railway Sprint, Little Bridge winner of the 2011 Group 2 Sprint trophy 1200m, Brown Eyed Grace 2010 South Island Filly Of The Year and Leigh Valley the winner of five races including the Cuddle Stakes (group three).
Another one of the Wentwood Grange graduates is Anne Carina. By Danske out of Lidahya she is the favourite at the stud. Winner of seven races including in Australia and New Zealand some of these include the Peter Gallagher Stakes (listed – AUS) and The Bay of Plenty and Waipukarau Cups.
